WHAT IS AN ARTIFICIAL COLOR ?

An artificial color, also called synthetic color, is a color created artificially from chemical compounds. Unlike the natural colors that we also offer at EUSA COLORS, which come from plant extracts, minerals or insects, artificifial colors do not exist in nature. They are heat and light stable.

RED ARTIFICIAL COLORS

PONCEAU RED E124

RED PONCEAU E124, also called Ponceau 4R, is a bright red artificial food colour.

It belongs to the class of azo color family which are artificial colors derived from azo compounds (N=N).

Uses: food (biscuits, confectionery, jams, beverages, ice creams, yoghurts, soups)

CARMOISINE E122

Carmoisine E122 is an artificial food colour of the azo color family. We have it in powder form or granules. It is used for many types of applications.

Uses: food (biscuits, confectionery, beverages, sauces, jams, desserts, some ready meals). Cosmetic industry: (makeup, shampoos, toothpastes, shower gels).

ERYTHROSINE E127

Erythrosine E127, is an artificial food color used to give a red hint to food and beverages. It belongs to the family of xanthenic colors.

Uses: Food (confectionery, soft drinks, candied fruit, cake decorations, icing, baking).

ALLURA RED E129

Allura Red E129 is an artificial red food color. It is widely used in beverages, confectionery, bakery products, sauces and ice creams. It belongs to the family of azo color family and is one of the most widely used colors in the world, especially in North America.

Uses: Food (Bakery, confectionery, dairy products, canned red fruits, sauces, ice creams, candied fruit, cake decorations). Cosmetic and pharmaceutical industry.

AMARANTH E123

Amaranth E123 is an artificial color family from the azo family. It is available in powder from dark red to red brown.

Uses: food (alcoholic beverages, fish eggs), cosmetic industry.

Iron oxide E172

Iron oxide E172 is a red food and cosmetic color that offers a wide range of color variations to suit your needs. It is synthesized from ferrous sulphate.

Uses: food industry: beverages, confectionery, chewing gums, ice creams, biscuits. Cosmetic industry: make-up, sunscreens; coatings and paints.

YELLOW ARTIFICIAL COLORS

Tartrazine E102

The artificial color Tartrazine E102 gives a yellow-orange coloration in the solutions in which it is incorporated. It is a watersoluble powder. It is used for many applications.

Uses: food industry: ready meals, syrups, beverages, confectionery and bakery, animal feed; cosmetic industry; pharmaceutical industry;

Sunset Yellow E110

Sunset yellow E110 is in the form of yellow orange crystals to enhance the color of certain products.

Uses: food industry: dairy, confectionery, biscuits, pastry, chewing gums, Beverages; cold cuts, seafood.

Quinoline Yellow / Quinoline E104

Quinoline yellow/Quinoline E104 is an azo artificial color which provides a bright yellow color. It is mainly used in the food industry to bring a bright yellow color to products.

Uses: food industry: dairy products, confectionery, sauces, chewing gums, fish eggs.

BLUE ARTIFICIAL COLORS

PATENT BLUE E131

Patent Blue E131 is a dark blue artificial color, known for its bright and stable colour; it is part of the triphenylmethanes and is available in powder, liquid or granule form.

Uses: Food industry (confectionery (candy, chewing gums, gummies), beverages (soft drinks, syrups, liquors), desserts (ice creams, sorbets, creams); cosmetics (shower gels, deodorants, mouthwash, toothpastes, shaving cream, hair coloring) ; pharmaceutical: syrups.

Brilliant Blue E133 is an artificial and bright blue color which is very water soluble. It is widely used in the food industry and other industries. It is available on powder and granule forme.

It is an azoic color.

Uses : Food industry (Beverages, confectionnary, ice creams, chewing-gums) ; cosmetics (soaps, shampoos, makeup) and nutraceutical and pharmaceutical industries.

BLACK ARTIFICIAL COLOR

BRILLANT BLACK E151

Brillant Black E151, also known Black IN, is an artificial food color, used to colour various food and beverage products. It belongs to the category of azoic color family. It is widely used in the food industry to give bright and intense black color.

Uses: Agri-food (confectionery (candy, chewing gums, liquorice), beverages (soft drinks, spirits, syrups), desserts (ice creams, jellies, cakes), lump eggs, dairy products, seasonings, bakery products (pastry, pasta); cosmetics (hair coloring, shower gel, makeup remover, soaps).

THE "LAKE" COLORS

Lake colors are insoluble colors. They are created by the adsorption of soluble dyes (such as azo dyes or other pigments) on an insoluble base, usually aluminum oxide or calcium salts. This makes them perfect for applications where insoluble dyes are required.

Lake colors provide the following benefits:

Stability: They are stable to temperature, light and humidity; therefore they are very suitable for products that will have industrial processes constraints.

Ideal for uses such as:

Food industry: Confectionery, glazes, pastries, sweets or baked goods where a bright color is desired without dissolution in the aqueous ingredients.
Personal care industry: Lipsticks, face powders, nail polishes and other cosmetics where a uniform and stable color is required.
Pharmaceutical industry: Colour tablets or capsules to make them more attractive and easier to identify.
