What is a natural color?

A natural color is extracted from vegetables, fruits, spices, plants or minerals to offer you a wide range of bright colors to enhance your products and preparations.
Our natural colors are, naturally rich in pigments to give you the guarantee of intense and long-lasting colors.
In accordance to the EU regulation 1333/2008, we indicate the name and type of use of the color when labelling it to guarantee transparent and complete information.
With our expertise and unique know-how, we support you in your choice of natural colors fully adapted to your needs by designing tailor-made solutions to meet all your requirements.

Natural yellow color

Curcuma E100

Extracted from the roots of the plant Curcuma longa, Curcuma E100 is a natural pigment of bright and intense yellow color that is part of the family of ginger that comes to enhance your preparations.
Uses: Seasoning, dairy products, cereals, confectionery, beverages.

Lutein E161b

Lutein E161b is a natural pigment from the carotenoid family, mainly used as a yellow-orange food coloring. Lutein is primarily extracted from the petals of marigold flowers (Tagetes erecta).

Uses: Margarines, cheeses, sauces, confectionery, beverages, biscuits.


Safflower

Extracted from the plant Carthamus tinctorius, Safflower brings a completely natural yellow color for a multitude of uses.
Uses: Seasonings, food supplements, ice cream, confectionery, beverages.

Natural Orange color

Paprika E160c

The natural dye Paprika E160c is obtained from the extraction of pepper - Capsicum annuum - highly concentrated in Capsurobine and Capsanthine which gives this orange or even red color to the preparation in which it is administered.
Uses: Food (seasonings, sauces, baking, confectionery, meat and seafood products, dairy and fat based products).

Roucou / Annatto E160b

Extracted from the seeds of the Achiote Bixa Orellana tree, Annatto E160b/ le Roucou brings a deep and warm orange color while adding slightly spicy flavors.
Uses: Agri-food (bakery, confectionery, seasoning, beverages).

Beta-carotenes E160a(ii), E160a(iii)

Beta-carotene E160a(ii) comes from vegetable carotens (carrots, herbs, alfalfa, nettle) ; it provides a yellow/ orange color.
Beta-carotene E160a(iii) comes from the fermentation of Blakeslea Trispora mushrooms and provides a very interesting yellow/orange color.
Uses: Food (bakery, confectionery, dairy products, seasonings, fat based products, beverages).

Natural red colors

Red cabbage (anthocyanin E163)

Directly extracted from the leaves of red cabbage - Brassica oleracea var. capitata f. rubra - this natural colour brings an almost pink red colour.
Uses: Food industry


Beetroot (E162)

Directly extracted from the juice of red beet - Beta Vulgaris -, the natural color that comes from it presents a nice color from pink to red due to betanin.
Uses: Food (biscuits, confectionery, sauces, glazing and food decorations).


Radish (anthocyanin E163)

Directly extracted from radish - Raphanus sativus - offers a wide range of colors, most often orange/bright red and can turn to pink if used in neutral application.
Uses: Food industry (beverages, confectionery, dairy products), Personal care industry.


Sweet potato

The color from purple sweet potato -Ipomea Batatas - gently colours the preparations in which it is applied ranging from a deep pink to a violet/purple color.
Uses: Food industry (beverages, confectionery, food).


Carmine E120

Carmine E120, which comes directly from Latin America, particularly from Peru, is obtained by extracting the cochineal Dactylopinius coccus.
Due to its history and expertise, EUSA Colors offers a wide range of different formulations of carmine among which:
  • Carmilake (Carmine lake),
  • Carmisol (Water soluble carmine),
  • Carmiliq (liquid Carmine).
First Use: Food industry :
  • Carmilake, Carmisol : Premix, salted food, cold cuts, meat
  • Carmiliq: Drinks, yoghurt, ice cream, confectionery

Second use : Cosmetic industry


Special blend of red fruits

In our natural colour range, EUSA Colors has successfully developed a range of red colours from a special fruit blend;
It offers very good technical alternatives to many of our customers; especially in alternative solutions to carmine and red beet; our teams are at your disposal to adapt your recipes according to dosage, of the colorimetry of your products.

Natural purple colors

Grape skin (anthocyanin E163)

This color is obtained from the extraction of grape skins that can be found during the winemaking of the grapes. It brings a deep red color with deep shades.
Uses: Agri-food (bakery, biscuit, confectionery, dairy and ice cream), cosmetics.

Black Elderberry

This natural colour from the black elderberry - Sambucus nigra - is obtained thanks to the juice harvested from its berries giving a deep purple, dark red color.
Uses: Agri-food (bakery, biscuit, confectionery, dairy and ice cream), cosmetics.

Purple carrot

This color from the purple carrot - Daucus carotta - thanks to its concentration in anthocyanins, allows, depending on the applications and pH of formulations colors ranging from dark purple to purple.
Uses: Agri-food (bakery, biscuit, confectionery, dairy and ice cream), cosmetics.

Natural blue color

Spirulina

Spirulina is a natural colorant derived from the microalga Arthrospira platensis, commonly known as spirulina. This microalga, cultivated in freshwater ponds, exhibits a natural blue-green color.

The extracted pigment is the blue pigment called phycocyanin. It may be referred to as "spirulina color," "phycocyanin," or simply "spirulina extract."

It is a valued ingredient in the food and cosmetic industries, particularly for its vibrant blue hue and potential health benefits.

Uses: dietary supplements, beverages, confectionery, and dairy products.

Natural green Colors

Chlorophyll E140

Chlorophyll E140 is naturally occurring from spinach and alfalfa (Medicago sativa). Technically, it should be chosen for solutions without heat treatment or used in containers without contact with light

Uses: Food (beverages, ice cream, dairy products, biscuit, confectionery, bakery, seasonings).

Copper chlorophyllin E141(ii)

Copper chlorophyllin is a partly synthetic product of the chlorophyll used for its strong dark green colour with deep and varied shades. Its copper combination allows it to present good qualities of resistance to heat and light.
Uses: Food (confectionery, ice cream, dairy products, biscuits, bakery, beverages, seasonings).
